Savin is providing Program and Construction Management Services to the Roosevelt Union Free School District and the State Education Department in their efforts to re-invent the District’s Educational programs.
As Program and Construction Manager, Savin Engineers, P.C. assisted the State, Roose¬velt Schools, and the Architect, in their efforts to reduce the State’s share and the local share. Savin worked with the District’s Consultants to maximize instructional spaces and eliminate, as much as possible, spaces not eligible for maximum state aid, to make the program affordable to the local taxpayers.
The $208.5 million bond referendum approved by the voters in June 2004 includes a concept that is meeting the educational program objectives of Roosevelt Schools:
• Construct three new elementary schools (Pre-K through 5) with no land acquisition. The first Elementary School to serve as a swing space through the life of the program and constructed in 2 phases.
• Construct a new middle school (6 though 8) on County property.
• Convert existing Jr./Sr. High School into High School (9 through 12) by renovation and re-construction.
In less than three years, Savin Engineers, P.C. worked closely with the State Education Department, Roosevelt Schools and its Architect to open two new elementary schools, to place the construction of the new Middle School at its mid-point despite challenges faced with unforeseen environmental issues, and other unforeseen site conditions. Ground breaking event for the third elementary School occurred in June 2007. Construction documents are in the design development stage for the High School and restoration of the swing space to a complete elementary school building
