The Bronx Valley Sewer System is one of four major Trunk Sewers conveying flow to the Yonkers Joint Treatment Plant. The Bronx Valley Sewer System conveys sewage from all or part of 12 separate municipalities through over 500 miles of sanitary sewers, ranging in diameter from 8" to 72".
The project involved four fully equipped field crews, each headed by an Engineer or specially trained technician. Office staff was comprised of Engineers experienced in Sewer System Evaluation Survey work, who organized and directed the numerous data analysis and computational tasks.
The final report addressed all findings and presented results of Infiltration and Inflow rankings for required rehabilitation. Results of flow isolation and follow-up television inspection were presented along with rehabilitation recommendations. Smoke testing results identified specific sources of inflow and a cost effective analysis was performed on all Infiltration and Inflow rehabilitation recommendations.
Westchester County personnel were regularly provided with findings and results of tabulations and data listings, as they evolved. This SSES project was completed in 1993.
