One of the longest underwater tunnels in the United States, the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel has been in service since 1950. This project provided for the complete replacement of the tunnel ceiling, leak repairs of the tunnel roof and replacement of the roadway lighting.
Savin Engineers performed detailed construction inspection for contract compliance, quality control and partial payments for demolition of the existing ceiling, removal of ceiling tiles, installation of precast concrete panels including stringers and side brackets, installation of new veneer panels, and electrical service and roadway lighting. Savin personnel also monitored demobilization of the contractor’s activities at the end of each shift for traffic safety.
